Webinar 2. National Agriculture Green House Gas (GHG) data collection in the Caribbean. Lessons Learned

Abstract

Dr. Luanne Stevens, Fellow at the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI), explaind what a GHG inventory is and why it is important, the importance of data, what are the agriculture emissions and how important are they, narrowing down to the agriculture emissions in the Caribbean and explaing the importance of soil in sequestring carbon. Dr. Stevens discusses the data requirements for inventories, data collection challenges in the Caribbean, best practices in GHG inventory data collection, as well as the requirements unde the agriculture readiness project 'Strengthening the Foundation for a Climate Responsive Agricultural Sector in the Caribbean' which was funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and implemented in nine (9) CARCOM countries to support data collection activities including the developmentof a regional data collection framework, a regional improvement report and training and awareness building around data collection.
