Abstract
La Conferencia Interamericana sobre Agricultura celebrada en Washington D.C. en 1930, bajo la égida de la Unión Panamericana, planteó la idea de crear un Instituto Interamericano de Agricultura Tropical. Doce años después, en 1942, nació el Instituto Interamericano de Ciencias Agrícolas, formalmente paugurado con el propósito de promover la investigación y la capacitación en agricultura.
